Bank House Hixon: A Sneak Peek

The Bank House Hixon has recently come under new ownership, and I was lucky enough to be invited to a preview before it offically opened to the public. After what I’ve seen, I can’t wait to go back and dine at this comfortable country inn.

Set in a four hundred year old building, this country inn around eight miles east of Stafford, was taken over by the family-run and Staffordshire based Lewis Partnership in summer 2017.

Having enjoyed visits to the Partnership’s other properties including The Moat House Acton Trussell and The Red Lion Bradley, when I was invited for a sneak peek prior to its opening night, I jumped at the chance.

Lovingly Refurbished

The Bank House has been lovingly refurbished. Comfortable, but with modern touches, the beautiful original features such as wooden beams in the restaurant have been maintained.

But there’s plenty of cosy nooks too. The bar areas are great for a drink or a bite to eat and they’re dog friendly.

Although we had a lovely sunny day for the preview I can imagine that, come chillier days and evenings, right by those log burners will become a great spot.

You’ll find a good range of beer, ales and lager including The Bank House’s own Blonde ale and Joule’s Green Monkey craft lager.

Bubbly & Pizza

At the preview event, along with other invited foodies, I enjoyed a glass of bubbly plus pizza from the wood-fired oven out in the courtyard.

The Bank House will offer a full menu of traditional pub favourites, but Wednesday to Sundays you’ll be able to enjoy thin and crispy, wood-fired pizza cooked to order. They’ll even make you one to take away while you have a drink in the bar.

Among the samples we enjoyed were the Green Lantern: courgette, red onion mozzarella on a pesto base.

And here’s the Baton Rouge: chicken, Cajun spices, spinach, mushroom & mozzarella:

After my sneak peek today, I’m looking forward to going back to dine at The Bank House Hixon.
